Study visit to the UK energy efficient boroughs completed (09/10/2009)
The two winners of the most energy efficient Polish municipality, a competition organised by the Polish National Energy Conservation Agency (KAPE), visited the UK boroughs of Woking, Leicester and Southampton between 16-18 October.
The visit, sponsored by the British Embassy, allowed the representatives of Cieszyn and Lubin to speak to their counterparts about improving energy efficiency at the municipal level in Poland. This included being shown model energy efficient houses and public buildings, including cultural centres and swimming pools as well as local combined heat and power stations.
Many of the premises were equipped with solar panels and photovoltaic cells but the most advanced local climate change strategies included collecting rain water to be used for laundry and toilets and adjusting parking fees to the CO2 emissions from cars. More details will follow soon.so watch this space!
