Funding opportunities
For many years, the British Embassy Warsaw has managed and/or funded a number of projects that contributed to the strategic priorities of the British Government. Our activity in this respect boomed after 1989, when Know How Fund resources supported the process of democratic transition in Poland and the country’s preparations for EU accession.
Since Poland’s accession to the EU in 2004, the Embassy’s project budget, like those in other developed countries, has been reduced. But we continue to fund projects which are strongly linked to the policy goals of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
What areas do we support?
Please note: we cannot offer charitable contributions either to organisations or to individuals.
In accordance with the FCO’s current policy goals, we support projects in the following areas:
- Promotion of an open and competitive European economy;
- Building an effective EU showing leadership in the world and open to further enlargement;
- Support for a low carbon, high growth global economy;
- Climate and energy security;
- Promotion of open and competitive energy markets;
- Development of effective international institutions, primarily the UN and EU;
- The UK being used as a model for internal reform in Poland;
- UK-Polish co-operation in Justice and Home Affairs;
- Countering terrorism and proliferation and support for disarmament;
- Promotion of human rights, inclusion and non-discrimination, with a special focus on the most vulnerable social groups.
Who can become our partner?
We invite applications from government agencies, NGOs, associations and foundations with proven experience in project work.
How to apply for our funding?
Project bids and questions can be submitted to us throughout the Financial Year (which lasts from 1 April to 31 March), using the attached bidding form. The form must be completed in English. If your bid is initially accepted we will ask you to provide more specific details of the project.
How do we award grants?
The Embassy’s Projects Team reviews incoming bids on a regular basis. The process takes about two to three weeks. Successful bidders will then be invited to sign a contract with the Embassy, which sets out all our requirements and conditions. It is important that all projects securing funding are completed by the end of the current Financial Year (31 March 2010).
How do we evaluate projects?
The contract obliges the grantee to submit a narrative and a financial report in English on completion of the project.
How to contact us?
Project proposals and questions should be sent by e-mail to info@britishembassy.pl
