British Alumni Society

British Alumni Society

The Society was founded by a group of twenty seven alumni in July 1999. Today it has over five hundred members – Poles and Britons residing in Poland who studied in the United Kingdom. The Society membership is also open to those who attended training courses, conferences or internships in the UK.  

The most prominent members of BAS include Prof. Jerzy Buzek, a member of the European Parliament and former Prime Minister, Prof. Marek Belka, former Prime Minister, Prof. Andrzej Raczko, former Minister of Finance, Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, a member of the European Parliament, Paweł Świeboda, Director of the DemosEuropa research centre.

The main objective of the Society is to build professional and social networks, promote experience sharing and assist in career development. The activities of BAS include professional development workshops, meetings with prominent businessmen, politicians and academics as well as various social events.  

The work of the Society is supported by the British Embassy in Warsaw and by the British Council. The Honorary President of the Society is HM Ambassador to Poland, Ric Todd.
