Bilateral projects

Our bilateral co-operation on home affairs issues has also tightened and improved. Poland and the UK are involved in a joint international (G6) initiative to combat human trafficking for forced labour or sexual exploitation. Further training, seminars and study visits to and from the UK will also take place this year.

What we have done so far:

  • Training for Polish judges in human trafficking cases handling. A set of training sessions (September 2007 - March 2008). Final seminar with a British expert, Prosecutor Glynn Rankin (UK Human Trafficking Centre) delivering keynote note speech took place in February 2008 at the Ambassador's Residence.
  • Training for prison psychologists working with sex offenders, presentation of British treatment programmes October 2007. 
  • April 2007 - Proceed of Crime Act Seminar in Wroclaw - presentation of an effective way to fight terrorism and organised crime in the UK by freezing assets of criminals. 
  • March 2007 - Polish Police Officers and Interior Ministry officials shared best practise on how to fight football and stadium hooliganism.
  • December 2006 - Electronic Monitoring Seminar for judicial experts from all over Poland.
  • November 2006 G6 Human Trafficking Conference in Warsaw.
  • October 2006 - Brian Drew, Director of Football Policing Unit visited Poland to outline how the UK has tackled the issue of football hooliganism and shared first hand experience as police commander of football violence in England in 1970s and 80s. 
  • April 2006 - Operation Pentameter I launch in Poland - human trafficking awareness raining campaign.
  • March 2006 - Arbitration Conference - debate on the advantages and mechanisms of international arbitration organised together with Ius et Lex Foundation.
  • October 2005 - Money Claim online Seminar.
  • May 2005 - Alternative Dispute Resolution (Mediation) Seminar.
  • December 2004 - Electronic Monitoring Seminar.
